Salfest, an annual celebration, is a moment for residents to learn and socialize with fellow residents and those from other hostels. This year’s Salfest was celebrated over three days – 13th July, 14th July, and 19th July – and was amazing, just like other years, but way better – in fact, mind-blowing!
On July 13th, all 80 residents gathered at the pavilion for indoor games. The atmosphere was electric, with Afrobeat music setting the tone for a fun-filled evening.
The most popular game was Monopoly, which drew a large crowd. However, the biggest surprise came from the Oware game, where the expected loser made a stunning comeback to win.
Another highlight was the modified Ludo game, which added a twist with “home kick” and multiple ways to get removed from the game, making it even more exciting. Winners received a prize of ¢100.
We enjoyed grilled sausages and drinks while competing. Resident Walter Addico said, “Salfest was an incredible experience! I loved the indoor games and the snacks were amazing.”
On July 14th, we transformed the car park into a beautiful dining area. Canopies and tables created a cozy ambiance for our dinner night.
Love songs filled the air, setting the mood for socializing and getting to know one another. We paired hostel mates with people they barely knew to improve socializing.
The buffet featured Jollof rice, Plain rice, Fried rice, Waakye, Salad, Chicken, and Fish. We also enjoyed traditional drinks, including chilled Sobolo, Asana, Ah33, and pineapple juice.
Resident Adongo Rashida said, “I was surprised by how much fun I had at the dinner night. The pairing game was a great idea”
On July 19th, the entire grand floor and hostel compound came alive with music and dance. Sal jams and steeze was open to everyone, with free busing to and from the hostel.
The main dancing floor was the corridor of the grand floor, where residents and non-residents showed off their moves to dancehall beats. Our DJ shook the building with amazing jams, constant replenishing barbecue, and drinks.
Resident Perry Boakye exclaimed, “The Sal jams and Steeze was lit! I loved the music and the energy.”
Kudos to the 2023/2024 executives and the planning committee for creating an unforgettable experience.
Hostel President Noel Adokwei Zeajor noted, “Our goal was to create a memorable experience, and I think we exceeded that.”
Organizer Sedinam Ahotor added, “We’re thrilled with how Salfest turned out. It was a lot of work, but seeing everyone have so much fun made it worth it.”
Social Media Manager Rola Pyke Mc-Barnaman reflected, “It was great to see our residents come together and socialize. Salfest is more than just a celebration, it’s a community builder.”
This year’s Salfest was indeed an unforgettable experience, and we can’t wait to see what next year brings.
