Sal Hostel Elections 2024: New Leaders Emerge

As the saying goes, “A park without a head riots around like a snake without a head.” This year’s election was a crucial moment for Sal Hostel, as residents gathered to choose their new leaders.

Five residents contested for three positions: Kwesi Manful Essel, Perry Boakye, and Derrick Mensah Sarbah vied for the presidency. Emmanuel Antwi ran unopposed for General Secretary, while Rola Pyke Mc-Barnaman sought re-election as Social Media Manager.

Notably, no one contested for the positions of Organizer and Entertainment and Sports manager.

Voting took place on 14th July at 1 pm at the hostel car park, with 64 students participating. At 5 pm, voting ended, and each candidate appointed an agent to supervise the counting process at the porters’ office.

After counting ended at 5:20 pm, the candidates and residents anxiously awaited the results.

Former president and election commissioner, Noel Adokwei Zeajor, announced the results of the election. “This election showcases the democratic spirit of Sal Hostel, and I congratulate all winners,” he said.

Derrick Sarbah emerged victorious in the presidential race with 29 votes.Emmanuel Antwi secured the General Secretary position with 54 votes.Rola Pyke Mc-Barnaman was re-elected as Social Media Manager with 54 votes.

Kwesi Manful Essel was appointed Organizer due to his dedication to hostel programs.

Perry Boakye was appointed Entertainment and Sports Manager, recognizing his enthusiasm for entertainment in the hostel.

Amos Oppong, who had assisted the Social Media team, was appointed as the second Social Media Manager. “I’m excited to contribute to our online presence,” he said.
