Meet Kwaku Okai Daniel Essel: A Student Leader with a Passion for Business and Education

Hi everyone! Welcome to another edition of our hostel spotlight series, where we feature some of the amazing students who live in our SAL hostel and share their stories and achievements. Today, we are excited to introduce you to Kwaku Okai Daniel Essel, also known as KODE. He is a 21-year-old student from Accra who is studying Business Administration Logistics and Supply Chain Management/Business Information Technology in his second year at KNUST Obuasi Campus.

KODE is not only a brilliant student but also a natural leader who has held various positions of responsibility and influence both on and off campus. He is currently the Deputy Chief of Staff of the KNUST SRC-Obuasi Campus, where he assists the Chief of Staff in coordinating the activities and projects of the SRC. He is also the Deputy Public
Relation Officer of the KNUST School of Business Obuasi Campus, where he helps to communicate and promote the school’s vision and programs to the public. In addition, he is the Organizing Secretary of SAL Hostel, where he plans and executes events and activities for the hostel residents.

KODE’s leadership journey started from an early age. He was a Class Secretary in JHS, a Protocol Prefect in SHS, and a Course Rep and Parliamentary Member in his first year at KNUST. He has also been involved in teaching and mentoring young students as a UCMAS Senior Instructor and a Home Tutor. He has received several awards for his outstanding performance and dedication as a course rep and an instructor.

KODE also has many hobbies that keep him entertained and relaxed. He loves watching movies, especially action and comedy genres. He loves traveling to new places and exploring different cultures. He loves playing computer games, especially FIFA and Call of Duty as well as playing drums

KODE possesses a wide range of valuable skills that can benefit any team or organization. Some of these skills include:

• Good Communication skills: KODE is able to communicate his thoughts and ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing. He can convey his message clearly and convincingly to diverse audiences.
• Problem Solving: KODE is skilled in identifying challenges and finding practical solutions to address them. He is resourceful and can think creatively to overcome obstacles.
• Creativity: KODE has a talent for generating new and unique ideas that can help organizations stay ahead of the curve. He is not afraid to think outside of the box and challenge the status quo.
• Critical thinking: KODE is capable of analyzing complex situations and breaking them down into manageable components. He can think critically to identify underlying issues and develop effective strategies to address them.

Overall, KODE’s strong communication, solution-oriented mindset, innovative thinking, and logical and analytical thinking abilities make him a valuable addition to any team.

KODE’s favorite quote is UBUNTU – I am because we are. This quote reflects his belief in the power of community and collaboration. He believes that everyone can achieve more when they work together with others who share their vision and values.
